We are delighted to release the Spring 2025 edition of Al Noor, which addresses the splintering modernities of the Middle East. With articles ranging from art as viewed from the perspective of Islamic scholar Zakariyya al-QazwÄ«nÄ«’s cosmography to an evaluation of how the Great Aliyah and the post-Soviet aliyah affected land use in Israel, this edition examines how disparate factors came together to form the modern Middle East, and how splintering of narratives at key points in time created the landscape of the Middle East as known today.
